Thursday Mrs Ruppert's Animal Science Class had a tour at Ogle Genetics where students learned more about the genetic selection for show hogs and the business side of the operation. They were able to see the process of AI in a sow and learned what to look for when a sow is in heat. Next we stopped at 6S Farms and toured the facilities. The farm was a producing dairy farm until 3 years ago, now houses beef producing cow-calf pairs. Students were able to learn about both dairy and beef production and the differences in management and facility requirements.
