During the summer, Mrs. Angela Chase, the Choir and Guitar Teacher at Pana High School, took initiative to enhance the guitar storage in the PHS music room. She considered various options and sought assistance from the community. The Tanner Jacobs Foundation stepped in to help, and now, robust, handcrafted guitar stands are in use. Constructed by David Dorn, a Pana resident and music parent, with financial backing from the Tanner Jacobs Foundation, these stands ensure the instruments for the PHS Guitar Techniques Class are well-organized and protected from damage. The students appreciate the ease with which they can manage the guitars they use daily. Tanner Jacobs, son of Ronnie Jacobs and Tawana Jacobs, was a 2019 graduate of Pana High School who tragically passed away in May 2023. A skilled HVAC technician, dedicated athlete, and enthusiastic guitarist and singer, Tanner's family founded the Tanner Jacobs Foundation to contribute to the community in his honor. The foundation aims to support projects that reflect Tanner's interests in sports, skilled trades, and music. They have initiated fundraising activities, including a recent golf tournament, to fulfill their vision of commemorating Tanner in ways that enrich the community. Ronnie and Tawana Jacobs recently visited Mrs. Chase at PHS to view the new guitar stands. They presented a check for the material costs and were shown the commemorative plaque that will adorn the guitar room as a lasting tribute to Tanner. The Pana High School Music Department deeply values the generosity of the Jacobs family and David Dorn's craftsmanship in creating the stands.
