Mrs. Stalets, PHS English teacher, attended the National Model UN Competition in New York City April 13th - 19th. Students from Spain, Germany, the Philippines, Canada, and other nations participated in this committee. As part of her graduate course through UIS, she represented the country of Kuwait on the UN Industrial Development Committee, and worked on the topic of increasing entrepreneurial opportunities for women, particularly in developing countries.
At Pana High School, Mrs. Stalets started the Model UN program 24 years ago and has worked with Mrs. Hankins during most of that time to prepare students interested in political science, communication, and current events for the Illinois High School Model UN Competitions. Students from freshman through seniors are encouraged to join this fun and educational extracurricular activity when it starts again in the fall.
