The Pink Panther Running Club is planning for the upcoming annual Panthers in the Park 5K run/walk. This is the fourth year for the 5K that is held on Labor Day weekend. Last year, nearly 150 runners and walkers participated in the annual event.
This year's race is Saturday, September 4th. Participants can register to run or walk the 5K route which begins and ends in Pana's Kitchell Park. The race starts at 8:00a.m. with registration from 6:30 -7:30 a.m. The fee is $18.00 for adults and $12.00 for students kindergarten through 12th grade. The cost for adults is $20.00 on race day. The 20th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was held in Decatur on June 26, 2010 at Fairview Park. 3,840 participated in the race for the breast cancer cure. Many businesses, organizations, schools and individuals from Pana participate each year. Signs were displayed along the race route representing various supporters of the race. Volley for the Cure was held at Pana High School earlier this year to raise money for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
